Be inspired by stories of the donors who make a difference every day.
Kootenai Health Foundation is profoundly grateful for the support provided by donors who have made gifts to the foundation. Through their generosity, they create meaningful legacies for future generations. Here are some of their stories.
Invest in the People Who Invest in You – Kootenai Health Employee Scholarships
Sarah Pierce is one of over 400 employees at Kootenai Hospital who have made a very personal donation. Her reason is fairly typical.
“This is my family,” she says of the place she’s worked since 2001. “Kootenai Health has done so much for me—it just feels right to give back.”
Sarah began at the hospital as a critical care nurse in the ICU and as a Hospital Supervisor for 10 years before returning to school to advance her career. Sarah graduated from Gonzaga University in 2012 with a Masters in Anesthesia. As she has progressed through her career here at Kootenai Health many nurses, administrators, physicians and other employees helped supported her and her family. All three of her children attended Kootenai Kids and were cared for by the daycare staff.
You gifts. Our technology. Shared Joy.
With funds from our amazing donors, the Foundation helped to purchase NICView cameras for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), as part of the IMAGINE Campaign. The Nicview camera system is a state-of-the-art system that provides secure live stream video of your baby when you are not able to be there in person. By offering an access code that is specific to your infant, you may personally choose to allow siblings, relatives, and friends to view your new arrival from anywhere in the United States and around the world.
Partnerships Support the Injury Prevention Program
Our commitment to injury prevention for people of all ages is an integral part of our commitment to the community.
Part of Kootenai Health’s trauma designation is a commitment to building awareness and preventing the most common injuries reported in our region. Part of this program is providing free helmets to children in need throughout the schools in the county.
Investing In Clinical Excellence
Longtime Friends of the Foundation, Jack and Helen Yuditsky are paying it forward by investing in Kootenai’s future. With the tremendous support and investment of the steadfast donors, every year the Kootenai Health Foundation awards “Clinical Excellence” scholarships. The Foundation recently awarded over $7,500 in scholarships to seven Kootenai Health employees to assist them in continuing their education in the pursuit of advancing clinical excellence.
Care for Everyone
Kootenai Health providers and imaging specialists teamed up with the Kootenai Health Foundation to provide 21 free lung cancer screenings to at-risk patients who otherwise may not have access to have this potentially life-saving scan.
This is the second year Kootenai Health has partnered with the Foundation, Panhandle Health District, and Heritage Health. This is a unique program that has afforded the opportunity to impact our community in a positive way and provide resources to improve the health and wellbeing of patients in northern Idaho.
