In Loving Memory of John Paul Johnson
1971–2025
As a journeyman carpenter and superintendent at Bouten Construction Company, John worked in nearly every clinical and operational area of countless hospitals across the Inland Northwest. But Kootenai Health, in his adopted hometown, held a special place in his heart. John approached his work here not simply as a builder, but as a steward, caring for this hospital as if it were his own. It was a surprise to no one that, following a cancer diagnosis in 2024, John didn’t miss a day of work during his initial course of chemotherapy, an expression of the quiet resolve and commitment that defined his life and work. John Johnson passed away on March 28, 2025. Yet his work- in the walls, the corridors, and the rooms where care at Kootenai Health is provided every day- remains.
Thanks to a generous gift from Bouten Construction, all gifts made in memory of John Paul Johnson will be matched up to $25,000 to support the Coeur d’Alene Cancer Clinic Transformation at the Kootenai Health Foundation.
With your help, our 2026 campaign will:
- Expand access to care by increasing clinic and infusion capacity (two new exam rooms and a new infusion chair)
- Reduce wait times for critical, often life-saving treatments
- Create a more comfortable, healing environment for patients and families
- Help recruit and retain the best oncology providers
Thank you for partnering with Kootenai Health Foundation as we strive to improve the health of our community one patient at a time. Because when cancer care is available here, hope stays here too.
