Kootenai Health is committed to providing the best care possible to our patients. As our region continues to grow, we understand the importance of proactively making investments and expansions to scale up to meet the needs of our community. Kootenai Health is the largest community-owned hospital in the Inland Northwest and we are proud that our cardiac surgery program ranks among the top 10 percent in the nation. As part of our strategy to ensure the highest quality care and services, Kootenai Health has begun an extensive project to expand our cardiac services.
NEED – Kootenai Health serves a region that has grown exponentially over the last decade. Our specialized heart center has seen a significant uptick in the patient population over its 18 years and our organization faced a tipping point. Ongoing capacity constraints have ultimately led to an exciting project that will further advance our care for our community the Kootenai Health Heart Center Expansion Project.
GOAL – This project will add one Cardiac Catheterization (Cath) Lab, one Electrophysiology Lab (EP Lab), and 10 pre/post-procedure rooms to grow surgical treatment capacity. The expansion will help us treat 1,500 more patients per year in the Cath Lab and 100 more in the EP Lab.
VISION – Through the Heart Center Expansion, Kootenai will improve access to critical cardiac services, reduce patient wait times, and position ourselves to accommodate rising cardiovascular service needs well into the future. This important work will not be possible without your support.
Together, we can better provide for our community’s increasing health care needs with greater access to premier, specialized cardiovascular care.
